The etch-a-sketch of my dreams

I know it’s either far too late or far too early to be posting about Christmas (although the weather today is more winter than summer), but I love this. Showstudio asked 12 designers/stylists/photographers to customise the same image with swarovski crystals for the 12 days of Christmas. The result is like etch-a-sketch, art attack and Rolf ‘can you tell what it is yet’ Harris all rolled into one. My favourite has to be Fred Butler’s design, especially as she puts on a rocket glove to finish her piece towards the end, complete with flashing light. Although who can resist Gareth Pugh asking for a pritt stick and a mince pie (OK enough Xmas talk now).. follow the link  http://www.showstudio.com/projects/twelvedays/

Inspiration: Tim Walker

Ever since I visited the Tim Walker exhibition at the Design Museum I’ve been in love with his work; so playful, evocative and beautiful. I think I’m especially fond of Tim Walker’s pictures as he once had a job working in the Vogue archives cataloguing the photos of high-society photographer Cecil Beaton; our family used to live on his estate and he would take me walking round his garden whilst feeding me chocolates.

Showstudio (Nick Knight’s interactive fashion website) recently streamed a live video of an interview with Tim - watch the edited highlights here: http://www.showstudio.com/project/infashion/
